Abstract

Applying geostatistical theory and methods, this paper analyzes the strength parameter of a rock mass measured in situ by the tool of the variogram. The correlation distance and correlation function of rock strength are worked out, they express the spatial variability of this rock property. They are also used to analyze the stability of a slope. The result indicates that the reliability index of the slope can be improved when the spatial variability of rock strength is considered.
