The application of expansive concrete is the effective way to solve the defect problems of bored pile such as the reducing diameter, broken pile, and Strength Shortage etc. In order to select proper expansive agent for bored pile, UEA, AEA and MgO were investigated in the research. A series of mechanical and deformation properties and durability tests of expansive concretes were promoted. The results show that: the strength and the stiffness of MgO expansive concrete is higher than that of U-30 and A-30. Unlike U-30 and A-30, the expansion of MgO expansive concrete is stable and homogeneous, which is the most important index to guarantee the quality of the bored pile. As to the durability, the concrete mixed with MgO has better properties on the impermeability, the resistance of rebar rust and the frost resistance. By comprehensive consideration, a conclusion was gotten that compared with UEA and AEA the MgO was more suitable to be used in the bored pile.
