Settlement Analysis of Artificial Aquifer

The simulation of settlement of the artificial aquifer made of cemented loose sand with cement content of 6 percent and layer thickness of 2.0 m is performed. The simulation results show that, with increasing depth, the strain due to loading increases while the strain due to wetting decreases. However, the total strain is still positive since the compressive strain due to wetting is much greater in all depth values. The values of settlement due to loading and wetting are 0.0151 and 0.0564 m, respectively. The total settlement is 0.0715 m.
