 ABSTRACT

Target-hitting of geology in the process of drilling is significant for petroleum development. In this paper, a new method of increasing the success rate while drilling is introduced. The proposed method consists of the following main steps. First, the offset direction and drift law of wellhead are obtained by statistical methods. Secondly, based on geological target of well drilled and the actual location distribution of the wellhead, taking " the minimum sum of the squares of the difference between actual well locations and the position shifted " as the condition indicators for determining the objective function, the wellhead horizontal shift optimization mathematical programming model, which can be solved by Quasi-Newton algorithm methods, is established. The proposed model is evaluated using Halahatang area data. Results shows that new method can predict and optimize the wellhead horizontal shift and is verified to be an effective solution to the problem of target-hitting rate while drilling.
