The listing is now a new page on conferencesOrganizations and other Resources of Interest
The Pile-Info Website This is an extraordinarily good geotechnical website. It is the second website we recognize in the new trend of useful and well organized geotechnical websites. You will find everything about pile foundations - from pile installation (with multimedia!) to detailed information on classifcation and links to related materials on the Web. This site is in Sweden.
The CPT Website by Dr. Richard S. Olsen--- We are hoping to find other useful Web sites of this kind.... Here is a Web site that is packed with useful information on CPT. It contains links to CPT related Web sites, references, and pictures concerning the Cone Penetrometer Test (CPT).
Please see GVL's Organizations page for geotechnical activities of various organizations.
Literature &c Databases
- Zobler World Soils Data Set
A global mapping of soil types by USGS using a number of interesting classification systems.- UnCover Literature Search Service
Search thousands of journals (on all subjects, that is) and they can provide a copy of the article you find (at some cost) - Works via telnet, so even a simple terminal emulator will do.
@ For inquiries: in N. America; or if you are elsewhere.- GEOBASE on CD-ROM: Earthdisc
A database of literature on Geology, Physical Geography and Oceanography. Published by
@ SUCCEED Geotechnical Engineering
NSF's SUCCEED Engineering Visual Database. This is a huge database of pictures - The Geotechnical engineering entry contains everything from a Vulcan Pile Driving Hammer to a Sinkhole in Florida!
@ For submissions: Alice Walker
- Swedish Database
A section of the Swedish Building Institute's database --a very rich database of geotechnical publications maintained by the Swedish Geotechnical InstituteNews and discussion groups
