Instructor/Assistant Professor (Geotechnical) #98-13CE:

The Department of Civil Engineering anticipates establishing a new instructor/assistant professor position in the field of Geotechnical Engineering beginning June 29, 1998.

Research opportunities may be available, but the focus of the position is on teaching. Instructor Qualifications: a Masters degree in geotechnical engineering or a closely related field is required. Assistant Professor Qualifications: a doctorate in geotechnical engineering or a closely related field is required. Other Qualifications: demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate geotechnical related topics and an established record of innovation and research in the field are desired. Preference will be given to individuals with professional registration and experience in construction/engineering/consulting in industry or government. The initial appointment will be for three years. Successive reappointments of up to five years in length will be based on performance. The Air Force Academy is an undergraduate institution which awards the Bachelor of Science degree as part of its mission to develop and inspire air and space leaders with vision for tomorrow. Essential qualities expected of every faculty member include the personal attributes of integrity, industry, cooperation, initiative, and breadth of intellectual interests.

The selected candidate will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
