Graduate student research/assistantship in geotechnical engineering at OU

DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP: The School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science at the University of Oklahoma has a Ph.D. fellowship available in the areas of Geotechnical or Geoenvironmental Engineering.

Opportunities exist for participating in exciting geotechnical and geoevironmental engineering research on various topics, such as: static and dynamic behavior of unsaturated soils; vibratory and dynamic compaction; intelligent compaction; interpretation of invasive-type in situ tests in unsaturated soils; static and resilient properties of chemically stabilized soil; effect of environmental factors on resilient modulus of chemically stabilized aggregates; groundwater modeling and monitoring for animal waste-induced pollution; fracturing soft sediments; pavement materials systems; erosion mechanisms and control along rural roads; and others.

Total compensation includes an annual $15,000 research appointment/fellowship for three years, and a complete tuition waiver. Norman, Oklahoma is a burgeoning community of 90,000 people just 10 miles south of Oklahoma City. Living expenses are very reasonable in the Norman, Oklahoma area with a typical 2-bedroom apartment leasing for $400/month.
