MARINE GEOTECHNICS, OCEAN/CIVIL ENGINEERING, UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND

The College of Engineering invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor with the opportunity of appointment as Director of the Marine Geomechanics Laboratory. The position is joint with the Departments of Ocean and Civil Engineering. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Civil/Geotechnical engineering or closely related area, demonstrated excellence in both teaching and research and significant knowledge and experience in marine geotechnics. The Marine Geomechanics Laboratory has excellent laboratory and computational facilities for conducting a wide range of research on marine sediments including stress-strain-time behavior, sediment acoustics, field studies, and modeling of seabed processes.

The successful candidate will be expected to continue and expand development of this facility, and preference will be given to persons with leadership capabilities for interdisciplinary research and demonstrated success in attracting research funding. At the Associate Professor level, must have a strong record of extramural funding and scholarly productivity. The person will teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
