Assistant Professor

at the University of Minnesota

GEOMECHANICS. The Department of Civil Engineering, University of Minnesota invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level effective Fall Quarter 1997. Candidates should have an academic background in geomechanics, with demonstrated research interest and expertise in applied mechanics, primarily in constitutive modeling and numerical methods for application to geomechanical problems. Specific areas may include inverse problems, wave propagation, dynamic/cyclic loading, interfaces. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in civil engineering or a related field by the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate quality teaching capabilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to develop a strong sponsored research program, and to supervise M.S. and Ph.D. students.
